Digital health tools have the potential to improve health decision-making. Early evidence suggests their use may even be able to improve health outcomes. However, health information and digital tools are often difficult to understand and access for the majority of the U.S. population. We’ll lay out what the research has told us so far — and discuss recommendations for designing mobile health information that’s easier to read and understand for people with limited literacy skills.
